Faith and the Muse mezclan diversas formas de arte como el teatro con la música, para crear una red multifacetica de absoluta expresión sombría que impregna todos los niveles de la percepción. Faith and the Muse es conformada por el compositor William Faith ( Ex – Christian Death, Ex - Mephisto Walz, Ex - Sex Gang Children, y miembro de Shadow Proyect) y por Mónica Richards (Ex – Strange Boutique).Faith and the Muse mezclan un surtido de estilos musicales en su trabajo, yendo del gothic / darkwave, al ethereal / ambient, pasando por influencias clásicas e industriales. El concepto de la banda se concibió en marzo de 1993 cuando Strange Boutique toco al lado de Shadow Proyect. Cada uno se impresionó con el trabajo del otro. Posteriormente se enviaron cintas que contenían varias e interesantes ideas musicales desde la casa de William Faith en Los Angeles a la casa de Mónica Richards en Washington, D.C.
Finalmente en Diciembre de 1993 la banda se conformo de forma definitiva cuando Mónica Richards se traslado permanentemente a Los Angeles.
